The last day

A picturesque corner of Pavia overlooking the Ticino River

Our last day in Italy was a full one. Our first stop was in an area of Genova called Bolzaneto where we stopped to have cappuccino with a friend, Rossana. Shame on me for not taking a single picture. We then headed north to the region of Piemonte (Piedmont). We made a stop in Sale, in the province of Alessandria. Here we visited the family of my friend Carlo who has recently passed away. Double shame on me, as no pictures were taken there either.

We then continued northward to Pavia, a little known town outside of Italy, but a beautiful and classy one. We had been invited for dinner by the daughter of a childhood friend who, sadly, has also passed away. Monica and her husband Daniele were most gracious hosts. We enjoyed the dinner she prepared, and their lovely home, and especially, the time she took to show us around her hometown.

It was late at night that we reached our hotel near Milan’s Malpensa airport before our flight home the following morning. Another wonderful vacation comes to an end, but the memories will linger long afterwards. Once again, thank you for travelling with us! Until the next adventure!!!
