Saying Good Bye to Eric

We're back in Sydney (for the third time). Today was yet another of those days where most of the time was spent flying or at airports; inevitable I know, but certainly not very exciting.

We did have some thrill when, driving from Alice Springs to the airport we caught glimpse of a group of five wild camels. We stopped the car to admire them, and one came right up to me. I pulled a handful of grass from the ground and waived it in front of his face and, lo and behold, he ate it from my hand with no problem.

When we arrived in Sydney, we had to say good-bye to our son, who had to make a one-hour connection for his long flight back home. He will be missed, as he was a great travel companion. Hopefully he's bringing back a wealth of good memories.

Diane and I caught an overpriced cab to our hotel, located in a not very attractive part of town, an area called Saint Peters, seemingly in the process of being gentrified. We took a stroll to a pleasant place called Sydney Park, and ultimately found a terrific Greek restaurant called Yamma, rated 4.9 out of 5 stars on Travel Advisor. The place specialized in rotisserie meats and let me tell you, they were most delicious. I had a gigantic plate with lamb, pork and chicken, fries and Greek salad, while Diane shared much of mine, along with a plate of yummy calamari. We did not have reservations, so we had to leave our table after an hour or so to make room for other patrons who did. The place was full to capacity by the time we left.

While this may not be the most exciting post, Diane and I tomorrow are off to a new exciting destination. So, stay tuned as I look forward to writing again in about 24 hours. G'nite Mates.
