I wanted to post this only because I’d like to stay on the schedule of posting every day or every other day but, although we’ve been to many places since the last blog, to be honest, nowhere we went screamed “wow” as in so many other previous locales. Still, here’s today’s scant pictorial post.

We left the very pleasant town of Valdivia and headed to Chile’s third largest metropolitan area, the city of Concepción, taking an infinity of small roads which provided lovely scenery of rolling, heavily wooded hills which were pleasant to the eye but would result as bland on a photograph. This was loggers’ country; an infinite number of trucks loaded to the max with large timbers annoyed us to no end.

I’m certain that Concepción has much more to offer, but what we saw of it turned out to be pretty run down and insignificant, besides the ever-present Plaza de Armas.

We had better luck this morning when we drove up the coast to the pleasant beach town of Tomé; the area called Dichato proved to be a good place for lunch and a long walk along the shore.

In Tomé we decided to drive northward until the town of Curicó, so we can be set to visit a nearby national park in the morning. Curicó is much smaller than Concepción, but it is certainly more pleasant, though it too is somewhat insignificant on the tourists’ map.

Here we treated ourselves to the best (and most expensive) hotel of this journey, we are enjoying a very lovely suite in a boutique hotel and had possibly our best dinner of the trip in the restaurant on the premises.

There are only a few days left before boarding the big bird back home. We are looking forward to the Siete Tazas N. P. tomorrow, and then it will be two days in Santiago, which we’ve skirted a couple of times but have yet to visit. Next post will be from there. A presto.
