On the road again?

Wow. My latest post is dated February, 2020. It seems like an eternity. Having been required to stay put on account of COVID 19 feels as though I've aged 20 years, and at my age it's no joke.

You can imagine how I've been chomping at the bit, while perusing new travel destinations.

We have now both been vaccinated against COVID, and Diane let me know that she may be able to take some days off next month. It looks like on June 23rd we may be taking our first trip since it all came to an end sixteen months ago.

Our destination will likely surprise you. Since in the summer we both like to tend to our garden and enjoy day-tripping in New England, we plan to be gone only about ten days, which precludes far-away localities, for which we like to reserve more time, After much consideration, we have set our sight upon a country that hardly makes anyone's travel bucket-list. EL SALVADOR.

Why there? I'm sure you want to ask. Well, the reasons are many. For one, it's only a seven hour flight, including transfers. We can leave at 6AM and by 1PM local time we'll have arrived.

Also, it is the only country in Central America where we have not been. Thirdly, flights are cheap. $400 will get you there and back. Four - The country has become much safer than its reputation may lead one to believe. 5 - Anyone I spoke with who has been there, absolutely loved it. 6 - As Frommer's put it "El Salvador has hundreds of miles of gorgeous Pacific coast to explore, lush national parks to hike, volcanos to climb, and unique villages to visit. It also offers a population that is among the friendliest and most welcoming. And all of this in a country that takes less than a few hours to drive end-to-end." Need I say more?

So, if all goes as planned, I should begin booking our flights, our car, and our accommodations within a few days. You will be able to follow our activities on a daily basis on this website, and I'll make sure to include lots of photos so that, even if only vicariously, you will be able to come along with us. And, if you do enjoy these blogs, please click the little heart to indicate "like", each time you enter (unless you hate it, of course). May you have a wonderful summer. I think ours is taking a turn for the better!
