Chile: The South

Writer: Alberto RizzottiAlberto Rizzotti

We have run into a couple of difficulties. Nothing major, to reassure you, but the worst is possibly the fact that I have broken my cell phone and cannot access it, which makes it difficult for us to travel unimpeded.

This said, there are not that many pictures to show you, inasmuch as we have spent much time driving, trying to secure places to stay, and for the past couple of days, having little time for excursions.

We are officially in Southern Chile and are currently staying in the resort town of Pucon.

Tomorrow we will explore the amazing surroundings, after hopefully having found a place to get help with my phone or buy a new one. The previous night we stayed in the very interesting town of Cobquecura, an oceanside locale with a wonderful black-sand beach, where, a mere stone-throw away lies an island that is chock-full of sea-lions. From the beach you can make them out on the rocks, and you can hear their howling competing with the sounds of the waves and the wind. Quite unique. I had videoed the site intending to post it on fb, but then we had the mishap with the phone.

Strangely, the hotel we had booked ended up being closed, so we had to spend a good amount of time trying to find other lodging, which took away a good chunk of time for photographing some very interesting places. Ultimately, we secured a room in an establishment that was considerably more expensive, but a real delight, sitting above a stretch of beach, with sublime views.

I’m sure we will be posting several, more enjoyable pictures soon. In the meantime, fingers crossed for my phone, please. Gracias.
