Hola Amigos, we are now a world apart from the arid, beigey, spectacular, mountainous landscapes of Central-Western Argentina. Two flights away (we changed plane in Salta) and abracadabra, we are surrounded by the thickest of Jungles, sweltering in the humidity, in a mostly flat environment, where the soil is blood red.
Puerto Iguazu, the northernmost town in Argentina - and one with some of the steepest streets I’ve ever driven on – sits on a tongue of land that ends at the confluence of the mighty Iguazu and Parana’ rivers.
The left bank of the Parana’ belongs to Paraguay, on the northern side of the Iguazu is Brazil, the other two sides are Argentinian. And of course, it is the closest town to the majestic Iguazu Falls, which we’ll visit tomorrow.
For lodging we have a beautiful 2-bedroom along the banks of the Parana’. We have a porch with a gorgeous view of the river and the Paraguay side.
The view from our bedroom
We had dinner at a strategically located restaurant where you can see three countries simultaneously. There is an enormous and beautiful bridge that is being constructed to link Brazil and Paraguay.
If you are all wondering how Diane is faring on this trip, I’ll tell you that I have never seen her as peaceful and relaxed. She's being a great travel companion.
Everything so far has been awesome and memorable. Can’t wait until tomorrow.
Spectacular views!! And Diane you always look so lovely!!
