A very pleasant and relaxing day, visiting with Sandro Silvestri, a college friend from my Chicago days, and his family.

Where did time go? We had yet another delightful lunch, then spent the entire afternoon locally, strolling here and there, chatting about old times, stopping for an aperitivo. We headed to the town of Castel Gandolfo, which is where the Pope’s summer residence is located. The town is very pleasant, overlooking Lake Albano.

Love is always in the air.
Lake Albano
The summer residence of the Pope is directly behind us.
While strolling there, we came upon this restaurant which caught our eyes with all the memorabilia it displayed. The lady invited us to take a tour; it was like visiting a museum. There are eight rooms in the restaurant, each with its own theme, but the uniqueness lies in the fact that the rooms are actually located in subterranean caves. It was mind-blowing; never had we seen anything similar. Will have to try it the next time we are there.
The outside seating of the restaurant. The following photos are all of this restaurant. To reach each room you have to descend into different natural caves.

The volcanic lake was a pleasant site, and it took on a particular poetic aspect after the sun had set. The town of Castel Gandolfo could be seen with its lights glistening from the road across.

Tomorrow we are moving on. Heading to Tuscany. Will be back in touch soon.
Love the photo of Diane.
